Graham River Caribou Habitat Use

Objective

To determine the degree and seasonality of use of Engelmann Spruce-Subalpine Fir (ESSF) and Boreal White and Black Spruce (BWBS) forests in response to forest harvesting and silvicultural proposals in the Graham River area.

Study area

Area from the Peace Arm (Williston Reservoir) north to the Graham River.

Methods

Eleven caribou were captured and fitted with VHF radio-collars in March 1988. They were monitored periodically throughout the year by fixed-wing aircraft.
