Dunlevy Property
| Objective |
To secure, and thus protect from development, a parcel of high-value wildlife habitat along the north shore of the Peace Arm, Williston Reservoir.
|
| Study area |
This 702-hectare (1,735 acres) parcel of land is located east of Dunlevy Creek along the north side of the Peace Arm, Williston Reservoir. The property consists of Class 1-2 (high moderate value) ungulate winter range along the north shore of the Peace Arm. The area is used extensively and year round by elk, and to a lesser extent by mule deer, white-tailed deer, and moose.
|
| Methods |
The property was purchased by the Nature Trust of BC on behalf of the PWFWCP, with funding provided by the PWFWCP. Title to the property remains with the Nature Trust but it is leased back to the Ministry of Environment through a 99-year agreement, which ensures that the land is managed for the benefit of wildlife in the area. Biophysical habitat, ungulate capability, and habitat enhancement assessments were subsequently completed on the property. |
