The Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program in the Peace region is a joint initiative of BC Hydro, BC Ministry of Environment & Fisheries and Oceans Canada.The provincial fish and wildlife agencies launched in 1988 to compensate for the impacts to fish and wildlife caused by the creation of the Williston and Dinosaur reservoirs. At its inception, a fund was established from which the annual earnings are managed to maintain the program in perpetuity.
