Steve Darling was born in North York, Ontario, but came West as a child when his parents moved the family to North Delta. All through his days at Seaquam Secondary School, he longed for a radio career, and he landed his first big-time media job came when he was hired to produce the Vancouver Canadians baseball broadcasts for CKWX. Soon Steve was behind the microphone himself in a string of radio gigs, including CKEG in Nanaimo and JR Country in Vancouver. After a full-circle stint back at CKWX Sports, he found a home with Global Television's morning news team. Nowadays, when not covering golf, baseball and hockey, Darling plays them recreationally himself. No wonder It's a Wonderful Life is one of his favourite movies.
