B.C. Lions hero

Image of Lui PassagliaThis East Vancouver boy's records in the CFL are virtually endless. He was named Western Division All-Star10 times, a CFL All-Star five times and was a member of three Grey Cup championship teams. A B.C. Lion kicker from start to finish, he holds Canadian Football records for most regular seasons (25), most regular season games (408) and most regular season points (3,991). A Vancouver sports hero by the time he retired in 2000, Passaglia was later granted an honorary doctorate from Simon Fraser University, his alma mater. He lives in nearby Coquitlam with his wife and four children, and is currently the Lions director of community relations. In Vancouver, a city that often cares more about finding a good latte than football, Passaglia is more recognizable than any hockey player, often greeted by chants of "Luuuu! Luuuu!". His winning field goal, with no time left on the clock, in the 1994 victory over the Baltimore Stallions at B.C. Place, is a part of Vancouver sports lore.
