All Team Power Smart members qualify for exclusive contests and offers while learning how to cut their energy use and save money. And for BC Hydro account holders, there's a new initiative designed to further encourage energy conservation.
The new Team Power Smart reward initiative is a thank you to account holders who join the Team by committing to cut their electricity consumption by 10%, adding their BC Hydro account online and delivering on that 10% target over 12 months. It's a $75 reward that adds to the savings members will have already achieved by lowering their electricity consumption.
British Columbians who don't have a BC Hydro account can still join Team Power Smart and qualify for benefits such as member-only offers and contests, including a chance to win prizes in conjuction with select Team Power Smart leaders.

As a member of Team Power Smart, I have voluntarily committed to reducing my electricity use over the next year by 10% compared to last year. I understand that the following rules govern me and other Team Power Smart members who have also voluntarily committed to reducing their electricity use by 10%.
I agree to be bound by the following rules:
Eligibility: I am a resident of British Columbia. I am also a BC Hydro account holder and am 19 years of age or older. I am a Team Power Smart member, have added my BC Hydro account online on bchydro.com and have voluntarily committed to reducing my electricity use over the next year by 10% compared to last year.
10% Reduction Target: Whether or not I have achieved my 10% reduction target will be determined by BC Hydro. BC Hydro will compare my level of electricity consumption over the next year (provided such consumption is normal) to my level of consumption last year on the same BC Hydro account. If I have less than one year of consumption history with BC Hydro on the same BC Hydro account, the year in which I will try to achieve the 10% reduction target will not begin until I have accumulated one full year of consumption history on such account. BC Hydro's determination regarding whether I have achieved the 10% reduction target, and any other decisions of BC Hydro in respect of this initiative, will be final and binding.
Financial Reward: If BC Hydro determines that I have achieved my 10% reduction target, BC Hydro will notify me by e-mail or mail and will, as soon as reasonably possible, pay me a one-time payment of $75. BC Hydro will make this payment by cheque.
Participation Voluntary: My participation in any Team Power Smart programs and initiati, including the commitment to achieve the 10% reduction target, is voluntary. I will not be penalized by BC Hydro for not achieving the 10% reduction target. To be eligible for the $75 financial reward, however, I understand that in addition to satisfying all of the other rules set out herein, I must participate continuously for a one year period (after accumulating one full year of consumption history on the same BC Hydro account) without interruption on the same BC Hydro account.
Weather Normalization: BC Hydro will adjust my electricity consumption data for yearly temperature fluctuations. This makes the year-to-year comparison more accurate, as customers won't be penalized if an increase in consumption is the result of a particularly cold year.
Billed at Normal Rates: While I am a member of Team Power Smart and during the year in which I will try to achieve my 10% reduction target, I will continue to be billed for electricity consumption at BC Hydro's normal rates and all applicable taxes will be applied in the normal manner.
Team Power Smart Communications: BC Hydro may, while I am a Team Power Smart member, send me newsletters and other communications containing energy saving tips, "success stories" and other information, including information regarding other rewards, incentives or other energy-saving programs that may be offered by BC Hydro to Team Power Smart members.
BC Hydro may send this information to me by e-mail ordinary mail. I am entitled to choose not to receive any or all of these communications by unsubscribing to email newsletters by following the instructions set out at the bottom of such emails, by notifying BC Hydro by email, or by following the directions set out on the Team Power Smart website.
BC Hydro's Right to Change or Terminate Program: BC Hydro may, at any time and from time to time, change, supplement or cancel the Team Power Smart program or any program or initiative within Team Power Smart (or any part of a program) including the $75 financial reward initiative, all without any responsibility or liability to me or any member of my household. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if I committed before the effective date of any change to, or cancellation of, the $75 financial reward initiative, I will still be entitled to receive the $75 financial reward so long as I comply with all the other rules set out above.
