A few words from the coach

Welcome to Team Power Smart and the first stage of a redesigned bchydro.com. With your commitment to join the team, I know we can make a difference in each of our communities and across B.C.

Recently, I joined a group of residential customers in a study that monitored our energy usage. My household saved 18% in consumption and decreased our natural gas usage as well. This wasn’t by doing major change-outs of appliances – in fact, I hardly noticed the changes. The key was being more aware of how our actions were impacting our usage.

How to join Team Power Smart

As head coach of Team Power Smart, I’m urging you to start saving energy now and to join the team by registering for one of the following Power Smart initiatives:

  • If you have a BC Hydro account, you can set an energy reduction target and use real consumption data to track your progress over the course of a year.
  • Subscribe to our bi-monthly Connected eNewsletter, which offers timely energy-saving tips, Power Smart rebate and incentives information, and real-life examples of how British Columbians are saving energy.

The new-look bchydro.com

Your appetite for conservation information doesn’t end with Power Smart tips. That’s why we’re adding conservation news and features, on everything from fuel-efficient vehicles to wildlife protection, to a redesigned bchydro.com.
