Richmond Home Hardware went beyond expectations to make the Power Smart Lighting Rebate Program a success.
The store supported the campaign through in-store and community events and advertising. They invited media and television crews into the store to shoot ads and cover Power Smart promotions. Plus they promoted the campaign in the ethnic media to spread the word throughout the community.
The results
- They staged the most successful retail events in the fall 2005 Lighting Rebate Program.
- Sales of compact fluorescent torchieres and holiday light-emitting diode (LED) lights were among the best of any retailer.
- The store posted the highest sales of CFL torchieres in the 2005 campaign.
Going above & beyond
- They carry a wide selection of energy-efficient products year-round.
- They continue to push market transformation toward energy efficiency, they even sourced new lighting products for Power Smart to consider in future campaigns.
- Staff and volunteers coordinated the recycling of old halogen and incandescent lights province-wide during the Lighting Rebate Program, and coordinated a pilot CFL recycling program to all participating Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island retailers.
- The store also donates lights to churches and community organizations.
