Eligibility

BC Hydro residential customers living in a low-income household are eligible to receive an Energy Saving Kit. Your combined household income (which includes the income of every 18 years or older member in the household) must be below the Low-Income Cut-Off (LICO) as published by Statistics Canada. Low-income cutoffs vary by where you live (population) and by the number of people in your household.

Apply online or call us at 604 431 9463 or toll free at 1 877 431 9463. The line is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Be ready to provide

  • Your name and BC Hydro account number (you can find it on your bill)
  • Your contact information
  • Number of people in your household and your household income

Your information will be used to determine your eligibility for the program only and will not be used for any other purpose.

If you qualify, you will receive your free, customized Energy Saving Kit (ESK) by mail in 3-6 weeks.

Energy Saving Kits are valued at about $75. Individual items vary in price from different retailers. However, many of the products in the kit can be purchased at reasonable prices (e.g. less than $5 retail) and will provide significant energy savings.
