Hot, hungry and hostile: Gwynne Dyer predicts global future
World renowned social commentator and 2010 Order of Canada recipient Gwynne Dyer prefaced his 2011 Power Smart Forum keynote address with a caution: "It's going to get depressing at the middle of this talk and it will end up a little more cheerful; be patient, and don't cry!" Gwynne admitted he hadn't worried much about climate change throughout this career. That changed, however, three years ago when on trip to Washington, his friend in the American Forces mentioned, in passing, the Pentagon's interest in global warming – and how the military may be involved.
