Regulatory Requirements

Under the Clean Energy Act (CEA), the BC Utilities Commission (BCUC) continues to regulate BC Hydro’s domestic supply and rates. It also continues to regulate the safety and reliability of the BC Hydro system, and regulate operating, management and administrative costs, as well as handle complaints from ratepayers regarding BC Hydro service.

BCUC continues to regulate and provide oversight to projects and programs identified within BC Hydro’s Integrated Resource Plan, unless those projects and/or programs are listed on the CEA exemption list. All projects are subject to the province’s environmental assessment process and to applicable First Nations consultation obligations.
