Integrated Electricity Planning

As BC Hydro plans for the future, there are challenges and choices facing the province as its economy and population grows and the demand for electricity increases. Integrated electricity planning addresses the long-term planning of electricity generation, transmission facilities and demand-side resources to reliably meet forecast requirements.

BC Hydro's integrated electricity planning process produces a long-term acquisition plan (LTAP), which is an integral part of BC Hydro's overall business planning and resource acquisition processes to ensure that BC Hydro continues to provide reliable power, at low cost, for generations.

Note: Previously, the planning documentation was referred to as an integrated electricity plan (IEP) and an LTAP. The same documentation is now referred to as an LTAP.

BCUC Long-Term Electricity Transmission Planning Inquiry

The BCUC is holding an inquiry to consider electricity transmission infrastructure and capacity needs in British Columbia over the next thirty years. The inquiry will assess the electricity generation resources that will potentially be developed during this thirty-year time period, and make determinations with respect to the need for, and timing of, additional transmission infrastructure and capacity. As a participant in the Inquiry, BC Hydro will be supplying information and evidence.
