Heavy rain fell in the area close to Pemberton and Squamish over three days on the weekend of September 19-20. The rain created mudslides that washed out several roads and prompted evacuation orders. One major mudslide near the town of Birken close to Pemberton took out power to more than 500 customers, damaging two transmission towers and knocking one down completely. Crews were able to make temporary repairs to restore power on the evening on Monday September 21. Work to repair the damaged towers continues.
