There's a new chair of BC Hydro: Brad Bennett has been appointed chair of the board by Premier Christy Clark. His new role is the latest in a family legacy of public service in B.C. history. Working 21 days on, seven days off - living at a campground in the Fraser Canyon - BC Hydro crews delivered a demanding section of the Interior to Lower Mainland Transmission line ahead of schedule, without a serious injury. And we take a look at how our crews get power back after a big storm, and the help they get from new technology.

Last week, Premier Christy Clark announced that Brad Bennett would be the new Chair of the board of BC Hydro. He comes to the job after serving three years as a director on the board.

On September 12, over 180 residents joined our team at the Merritt Substation Open House to celebrate and learn about the new facility. Families explored the substation on guided tours before enjoying a BBQ, face painting and crafts. Some of the braver attendees got to peek into the life of a Power Line Technician as they strapped in and rose high above the festivities in one of our bucket trucks. Following the two year construction period, the substation will be energized and ready for service at the end of October.
