After three and a half years of construction, one of the biggest investments to B.C.'s electricity system in the past 30 years is now complete. Last week we marked the completion of construction of the Interior to Lower Mainland transmission line, stretching from Merritt to Coquitlam. More than 850 jobs were created during construction of the 500-kilovolt line. It was an incredibly busy week for our crews, who needed to restore power to thousands of customers after an intense winter storm caused hundreds of outages across the region. And in Campbell River, CTV Vancouver Island headed inside the incredible underground cavern that will one day be home to the new John Hart Generating Station powerhouse.

With hundreds of small power outages across the Fraser Valley, dozens of crews needed to muster to get power back on for our customers. Getting that many bucket trucks and crews ready to head out into the field means getting creative – crews in Abbotsford had to muster at a local mall where there was enough space to park all our trucks.
