Upgrades to help prevent outages BCHydro Power smart
This Week. The latest news and updates from BC Hydro.

June 27, 2016

We've been busy on Vancouver Island lately, and it's not just about the ongoing work at the aging John Hart Dam. On Sunday, 100-plus crews worked on upgrades that will help reduce the number of outages on a key power line at Lake Cowichan, where we took full advantage of a planned power outage to get a lot done. This comes in the wake of the completion of the $32-million Buckley Bay substation project. And with BC Hydro so busy across B.C., our own President & CEO Jessica McDonald has expanded our social media presence for customers and employees with her own Twitter account. Here's another shot from the major upgrades we worked on Sunday at Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island. This crew put in a new power pole and attached the lines to the new pole. Here they're pulling away the top of the old power pole after safely cutting it away.
