President and CEO discusses Site C
BC Hydro
For Generations

This Week. The latest news and updates from BC Hydro.
July 20, 2015
Last week, president and CEO Jessica McDonald sat down with Vaughn Palmer on the Voice of BC to talk about all the latest developments with Site C and where we're at with construction. And planning is underway for a new operations centre in Victoria, critical for managing the local system and delivering reliable power. The new centre will be a post-disaster facility, replacing an aging building that doesn't meet modern standards. And finally, we're looking ahead to hot weather returning to B.C. That means that we've shut down or severely limited energy generation at facilities on the south coast and Vancouver Island. Our large Peace and Columbia facilities are able to handle most of B.C.'s electrical demand.
More hot weather, limited precipitation expected for B.C.

Drought conditions are continuing to affect operations at our facilities on Vancouver Island and the south coast. But it won't affect your power.

Warm weather and sunny days are a great time to explore B.C.'s beautiful outdoors. across the province, like Jones Lake. 42 kilometres east of Chilliwack, you'll need a 4x4 with high clearance on the access road to check out views like this, but other rec sites around the province are just waiting for you.
