Last week, BC Hydro announced three new electricity agreements for wind power under the Standing Offer Program, bringing wind farms to the Okanagan region for the first time. And we chat with a Squamish Nation master carver whose work has found its way to BC Hydro's office in Squamish.

B.C. is getting three more wind farms

45 megawatts of wind power are coming to the Okanagan, near Kelowna and Summerland and to Taylor in northeastern B.C. Integrating new intermittent wind sources like these are possible, thanks to the stability of our large hydroelectric dams.

The art of Squamish Nation carver Xwa-lack-tun (Rick Harry) is everywhere from Whistler's Peak to Peak Gondola to the doors of BC Hydro meeting rooms. A piece he worked on in the 1990s just found a new home at BC Hydro's office in Squamish.
