Two gold medals, and counting, for Lauren

Call her the Lindsey Vonn of para alpine skiing. Except that Lauren Woolstencroft has already done one better at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games than the great American skier did at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Vonn, picked by some to win as many as five alpine ski medals, won the downhill and added a bronze in the Super G, but crashed in several other races to finish with two medals.

Canada's Woolstencroft, an engineer with BC Hydro, won her second gold medal of the Paralympic Winter Games on Wednesday with a victory in the giant slalom event at Whistler. Her two-run time of two minutes, 34.03 seconds was 7.57 seconds better than that of silver medallist Andrea Rothfuss of Germany, who finished just .03 seconds ahead of bronze medallist Petra Smarzova of Slovakia.

Canada's Karolina Wisniewska just missed making the podium for the second time, finishing fourth behind Smarzova. On Monday, she won the bronze in the slalom event behind gold medal winner Woolstencroft and silver medallist Rothfuss.

There will be little time for these women to rest. They'll be at it again Thursday in the women's downhill at Whistler.
