Crews replace aging transformer bank in Coquitlam
BC Hydro power line technicians Ephriam Nelson and Leon Berard removed a thirty-year-old underground transformer bank in Coquitlam on June 15. They replaced it with a single, new “padmount transformer,” which will do the same job as three old transformers.
The new transformer will increase power reliability for businesses along Austin Avenue in Coquitlam. The new transformer is more efficient than the old ones, and will last approximately 25 years.
It took the crew 12 hours to replace the transformer bank.
