BC Hydro at work: Big tower construction continues

Jan. 25, 2013: More than 600 steel transmission towers with an average height of 42.5 metres – the equivalent of 24 people standing on top of one another – will be built for the Interior to Lower Mainland Transmission Line. This tower was put up near Merritt earlier this month. The project involves building a new 500-kilovolt, 247-kilometre transmission line from Merritt to Coquitlam that will improve power delivery to homes and businesses in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.
