This
month we look at B.C.'s
Clean Energy Act and why its aggressive new conservation target
is good news for BC Hydro's industrial customers... Also this
month, we look at a WWF
Canada study that shows that when businesses join the battle
against climate change, it often translates into an improved bottom
line... And we provide an update on our Large
General Service Rate Structure, which has been approved by
the British Columbia Utilities Commission and has been designed
to support conservation. |

Energy
conservation is the law in B.C.
The provincial Clean Energy Act has been passed by the B.C.
Legislature and sets out a new electricity conservation target
for British Columbians. That new target, 66% of B.C.'s load
growth to be offset through conservation, means Power Smart
programs will continue to help industrial customers achieve
efficiency and gain a sustainable competitive advantage.

Reduce
GHG impacts, improve the bottom line
A new report issued by WWF-Canada in
May demonstrates how businesses can improve the bottom line
by addressing climate change. The 'Rethinking Business' document
collects four case studies of corporations involved in WWF's Climate
Savers program, including Hewlett-Packard Canada and Coca-Cola.
