Rise
of the Energy Manager
Increasingly, companies serious about benefitting from energy
efficiency are harnessing the talents of Energy
Managers, individuals with the training to identify and
maintain a company's peak energy performance.
"What we often say to organizations is, 'Look at your
energy spend and figure out what 20-25% of it is,' because
that's the kind of annual savings companies tend to find as
they make energy efficiency a priority," says Doug Tripp,
Executive Director of the Canadian Institute for Energy Training. "And
that's often conservative."

B.C.'s
conservation potential
In 2007, BC Hydro produced its most comprehensive ever Conservation
Potential Review – an analysis of opportunities for
province-wide energy efficiencies through 2026.
Among the report's conclusions is that British Columbia should
raise the bar on energy efficiencies, and it noted that most
industry in our province is 40% less efficient than the world's
leaders in industrial production.
A look at how this study has been used, and what has been learned.
