BC Hydro's social media channels offer another way to get connected

Fans of bchydro.com's newsletters know they're a great source for news, contests and tips on everything from Power Smart to our latest generation project.
But you don't need to wait for an email to hear from us – consider connecting with us on social media. Thousands of BC Hydro customers have already joined us – and gotten some perks along the way.
What you'll find
Over the past year, we've been working to ensure our social media channels are a place where you can get the info you need and want from BC Hydro. That means sharing great Power Smart offers, upcoming community events and answering your questions.
Our followers have access to last-minute deals and get a chance to voice their opinions on new projects and initiatives we're planning. Plus, we've been known to offer some exclusive prizes – it's our way of saying thanks for joining us.
Following us gives you access to BC Hydro every day. You can connect with other Power Smart fans, learn new energy-efficient tips and hear from us when you have questions.
What we've been up to
- In November & December 2010, our fans got a chance to win great prizes for "reducing the ridiculous" – reducing their wasted energy – over the holiday season. Fans walked away with Lululemon gift cards, a Canucks jersey – even an ENERGY STAR® Macbook Air.
- This past May, we turned to our Facebook fans for help creating a lighting comparison chart. We used their feedback to update the chart and ensure it captured the info that people need before releasing it on bchydro.com and our Connected newsletter.
- All summer long, we've been offering followers exclusive chances to win tickets to see Vancouver Whitecaps FC live at BC Hydro Family Nights by playing Wastebusters 2 and learning how to save energy.
- Our social media followers got the chance to save on energy-efficient products, thanks to free gift cards from our partners at London Drugs.
And we've been busy answering your questions – on everything from scholarships to smart meters, planned outages to Power Smart. We've asked questions too – looking for opinions on things like paperless billing, smart meters and energy-efficient homes.
Coming up we're planning some great things for the fall, including some exclusive deals for Power Smart Month in October.
