Is speed skater and Canadian flagbearer Clara Hughes giving Quatchi some inside tips on how to win a dance off? (THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck)

My money's on Return-it Man, who is fit, trim and always on message. But then again, when it comes to generating electricity on the world's first sustainable dance floor, a little extra weight can come in handy.
So don't bet against Quatchi, the rather large and crazily popular 2010 Winter Games mascot, as he takes on Return-it Man and the other stuffed wonders at today's (Thursday's) Club Energy Mascot Dance Off, which gets going at 3:30 p.m. at the Power Smart Village.
Who else is in the hunt? Here's the full list of combatants and a scouting report:
Quatchi: Surprisingly nimble, despite his bulk, Quatchi dreams of becoming a world-famous goalie but didn't make the cut behind Canada's Brodeur, Luongo and Fleury. Look for him to sumo-bump a rival off the floor.
Sumi: A bit of a dark horse, this protector of land, water and creatures is a supernatural wonder who, despite his modest stature, is a threat. Watch for maximum style points.
Return-it Man: A very busy guy during the 2010 Winter Games, the only question is whether the Return-It Recycling mascot is too fatigued to go the distance.
Winger: The Vancouver Whitecaps mascot is in his off-season, but rumour is that he has been spotted clubbing at several Granville Street night spots. Who knows?
Bob the Brown Bear: The Vancouver Canadians' mascot is a wizard on turf and dirt. He may rival Quatchi for most popular at today's event, but can he dance?
Leo: This guy can't wait until his team starts playing outdoors for the first time in years this summer at Empire Field. He'll give it his all in his celebrated touchdown dance.
Lamp & Television: These BC Hydro mascots have had a chance to practise, so that could give them the edge. And they could team up to bounce rivals off the floor.
Finn: The Vancouver Canucks' mascot is hugely popular, but as a fish (actually a mammal) out of water, I wonder how comfortable he'll be.
Bee-Bop: Straight from the Vancouver Aquarium, his name says it all. But what if he has to dance to hip hop?
The mascots start the day with a 2 p.m. parade from the Power Smart Village at 333 Dunsmuir Street to Cambie, up Homer and back to the Power Smart Village. Dancing begins at 3:30.
