Power Smart, and one hot electric car, at EPIC 2010

Amid the bamboo shirts and other eco-friendly products at the Vancouver Sun Sustainable Living Expo (EPIC) in Vancouver this weekend will be the Tesla Roadster. Who said going green can't be sexy?

The Tesla, in case you somehow missed it, is an electric vehicle that goes 0 to 100 km/h in under four seconds and boasts a range of up to 400 km between charges. It's now available in Canada, if you can call an expected price tag of $110,000-plus "available".

The Tesla Roadster will be a nice distraction among the many eco-friendly products on display at EPIC Friday through Monday at the Vancouver Convention Centre. And while you won't be able to experience the Tesla firsthand, you can line up to test drive a Toyota or Lexus hybrid.

BC Hydro Power Smart will also be at EPIC, which is among the stops on this year's Local Champions Tour. Walk up to a BC Hydro Outreach rep and learn about how you can save energy and money by reducing your home electricity consumption.

And right at the beginning of the weekend, at 1 p.m. Friday, you can take part in the BC Hydro Power Hour, a Power Smart relay challenge.

Among the other highlights at EPIC this year are:

To get the most out of EPIC, it's a good idea to check the website in advance for the specific times of cooking shows, fashion shows, etc.
