Night light safety concern prompts recall
Molenaar LLC has announced a voluntary recall of a night light that has been distributed at various locations across Canada.
The Electroluminescent Night Lights, which were handed out by BC Hydro Outreach as a giveaway at events throughout B.C. at various times since 2004, have been identified as potentially hazardous. They may melt or burn, resulting in possible electrical shock or fire. Consumers should stop using the recalled products immediately and discard.
For details on the recall, including more sample images of the device, please view the recall document [PDF, 125 Kb].
The night lights glow green when plugged into an electrical outlet. The two models #2017 and #2019 are in the shapes of a rectangle and house respectively. Both models can be identified by the text "71980 U.S.A." molded into the back panel just above the brass outlet prongs.
