Junior hockey fan joins Team Power Smart, wins a TV
Ryan Dobos (middle) is presented with the grand prize – a 52-inch Energy Star TV and DVD player – in the Chilliwack Bruins' Join Team Power Smart contest.
Cheering on his favourite Western Hockey League team is nothing new for Chilliwack Bruins fan Ryan Dobos. But after winning a 52-inch Energy Star television and DVD player, Dobos has scored big with another squad, BC Hydro's Team Power Smart.
Dobos got the TV and DVD player as a grand prize winner in the Join Team Power Smart contest that ran throughout the Chilliwack Bruins' season. That should make up at least a bit for the Bruins missing the playoffs with a 19-46-2-5 record.
"We are very pleased to present this exciting prize package to Ryan" said Power Smart specialist Steve Higginbottom. "Joining Team Power Smart has many advantages for all British Columbians and the environment. For Ryan, a new 52-inch television and DVD player are an added bonus".
The Join Team Power Smart Contest is the result of a season-long partnership between BC Hydro and the Chilliwack Bruins. Join Team Power Smart pledge forms were available to fans via the Bruins website and in each Bruins game sheet. Fans wanting to join Team Power Smart could submit their pledges at a display featured at every Bruins home game.
"Partnering with BC Hydro Power Smart was a natural fit for the Chilliwack Bruins" says Bruins marketing director Barry Douglas. "We are dedicated to improving the health, education, and well-being of children and their families. So encouraging people to use less energy and protect the environment was an initiative we could easily embrace".
BC Hydro launched Team Power Smart as a call to action for all British Columbians to join together to use electricity more efficiently, and to conserve energy wherever possible. Anyone who wants to help B.C. become more self-sufficient can join Team Power Smart online.
