On October 25, 2012, participating restaurants across B.C. dimmed the lights and turned up the ambiance as part of this special event, designed to show how simple actions can save energy.

Each participating restaurant will be extending an exclusive discount or special offer on the night, anything from a free appetizer, to 2-for-1 entrées, featured menu items and other awesome deals. No peeking – each time you open the oven door, as much as 20 per cent of the heat is lost. Instead, use your oven light and look through the window.

Answer: None
Screen savers are energy wasters. A computer monitor uses almost full power every time those cute fish, photo albums or geometric patterns are on display. Even when the screen saver is set for "blank screen" mode, the monitor uses nearly full power. For significant energy savings, turn your monitor off when you're not using it.

Refrigerators and freezers are two of the most energy consuming appliances. If your appliance is old or not working well, it's likely a good investment to replace it. If replacing your fridge or freezer is not feasible right now, keep it well maintained and use it efficiently.
