VANCOUVER – Bob Elton, President and CEO of BC Hydro, released the following statement today:
"On behalf of the Chair, the Board of Directors and the entire BC Hydro family, I wish to express my overwhelming grief at the news this afternoon of the tragic helicopter accident at Cranbrook.
Reports have confirmed that a helicopter carrying two BC Hydro employees crashed in Cranbrook while on a routine line patrol. The pilot, a pedestrian, and both BC Hydro employees were killed.
This loss will be felt by all of us at BC Hydro and in the communities where they lived and served. I am joined by Hydro employees across the province in expressing my deepest and most sincere condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the victims of this accident.
Details about the nature of this accident are not yet known. Further information will be communicated as it becomes available. In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones of those lost in this terrible tragedy."
