Wildfire causes power outage
VANCOUVER – As of 9:33 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, approximately 3000 customers in the Nakusp, Burton and New Denver areas are without power after a BC Transmission Corporation wood pole transmission structure was damaged by a wildfire north of Needles.
BC Hydro is aware of the situation and is working with the BC Transmission Corporation to restore power as soon as it is safe to do so. Crews will begin working on a repair once the wildfire no longer poses a threat to crew safety. Once the extent of the damage is known, BC Hydro will be able to provide an estimated length of time for restoration.
