VANCOUVER – BC Hydro and the British Columbia Transmission Corporation (BCTC) would like to thank all customers for their conservation efforts while repairs were being made on a transformer at a downtown Vancouver substation. BCTC has indicated those repairs have been successful and the substation is again operating under normal conditions.
Conservation efforts were appreciated particularly during the warm weather. It is estimated the combined effort resulted in approximately an 8 per cent reduction in peak demand from July 10 to 25.
Conservation efforts not only help meet British Columbia's energy needs but can also result in measurable dollar savings for customers. BC Hydro hopes customers will look for ways to incorporate some of the energy savings measures from the past two weeks into everyday practices. Such measures, no matter how small, will help British Columbia become energy self-sufficient.
