Candlelight dinner event a delicious way to save energy

Grilled tenderloin with cabernet reduction and wild mushroom ragout Section (3)The lights will be turned off or turned down, the candles will come out, and the food will be great. It's the Candlelight Conservation Dinner event, set for October 28 at 30 restaurants in Vancouver, Richmond and the North Shore.

Organized by Tourism Vancouver and BC Hydro Power Smart, the event will not just be about romantic, candlelit dinners. While there are some hip and adult-oriented restaurants on the list – Sanafir, Hermitage Restaurant and Section (3), to name just three – there are also more family-oriented eateries including Rocky Mountain Flatbread and The Old Spaghetti Factory.

The night will be even more special for Team Power Smart members, who will get one of three exclusive discounts. If you're already on the team, log in and check out the Team Power Smart Offers page, where you'll find coupons that will get you either a 2-for-1 entree, $5 off per person, or a complimentary appetizer or dessert, depending on the restaurant you visit.

Please contact individual restaurants for details on additional promotions, any offer restrictions, and to book your table today.

Not a member of Team Power Smart? Join now and you can get in on the coupons while also being entered in a monthly draw for a 2010 Winter Games ticket package.

Why a candlelight dinner?

The Candlelight Conservation Dinner is designed to bring attention to electricity conservation. The BC Energy Plan calls for B.C. electricity self-sufficiency by 2016 and for conservation to reduce, by 50%, the expected growth in overall electricity demand in the province by 2020.

Learn from our Green Your Home lighting guide to help reduce your electricity use at home, and always consider ENERGY STAR light fixtures and CFLs. Look for Power Smart Month and monthly lighting specials on our lighting rebates page.
