Electric vehicle conference in Vancouver September 15

BC Hydro has teamed up with Electric Mobility Canada to play host to the EV 2010 VÉ Conference and Trade Show, September 13-16 at the Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel in Vancouver.

The four-day conference will feature more than 60 speakers from Canada, the U.S., Europe and Asia and will include technical, business and policy discussions on electric mobility.

The conference also features an open-to-the-public evening, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on September 15, that will include a chance to look a Canada's largest exhibition of electric vehicles, to preview the launch of a short video "The Life Electric" and to hear featured guest speaker Chelsea Sexton, Lightning Rod Foundation  founder and the former GM EV1 specialist who starred in the 2006 documentary Who Killed the Electric Car?

The conference is designed as a learning opportunity for a wide variety of those with a stake in the future of EVs, from fleet managers and sustainability managers to policy makers, power producers and members of the electric vehicle industry. New sessions in 2010 include EV strategies for climate change, infrastructure innovations, customer perspectives, OEM vision and plans for the future, new national CSA standards, and life cycle assessment of EVs and their batteries.

On September 15, the public evening opens at 6 p.m., with the viewing of "The Life Electric" followed by a conversation between Driving Television host Zack Spencer and Lightning Rod Foundation founder Chelsea Sexton.
