New Construction Program

BC Hydro’s Power Smart New Construction Program (NCP) provides financial incentives, resources and technical guidance to assist commercial building owners, developers, architects and design teams to create better performing, energy efficient buildings.

The program offers four different Power Smart solutions tailored to meet a diverse range of needs for new building developments.

Whole Building Design

The Power Smart Whole Building Design offer is for new commercial, institutional or multi-unit residential developments or major building retrofits that can save 50,000 kWh and are in the early stages of the design process. Whole Building Design is a customized building approach that looks at the building as a single, highly integrated system.

System Design

The Power Smart System Design offer is for new (or major retrofits) commercial, institutional or multi-unit residential buildings that can save at least 50,000 kWh. This offer allows customers and designers to investigate for energy efficient opportunities for specific building systems such as, refrigeration system, HVAC system and/or very large complex lighting design system.

Energy Efficient Lighting System Design

The Energy-Efficient Lighting Design offer provides financial incentives and tools to help building developers and their design teams create and install more effective and energy-efficient lighting. This offer is available for any new (or major retrofit) commercial, institutional or multi-unit residential buildings with potential savings higher than 10,000 kWh and that have not yet ordered or purchased the lighting systems.
