Product Incentive Program Roundup

You asked and you shall receive! Inspired by Alliance members’ suggestions, new program enhancements have made the Product Incentive Program (PIP) even easier to use.

During the last year, there have been a number of requests from Alliance members for a PIP calculator that helps contractors, manufacturers and distributors determine potential incentives when creating proposals for customers. We’re pleased to announce that a new PIP calculator has been uploaded to the Alliance website– you’ll find it in the Resources section, under “Miscellaneous Technical Resources.”

Designed to help you calculate your customers’ potential energy savings, the PIP calculator is actually an Excel spreadsheet that includes all incentives offered under the PIP banner. Here are a few things to keep in mind before you use it:

  • There are a number of different tabs within the spreadsheet. Take some time to review them to discover all of the options and functionalities available to you and your customers.
  • To calculate an installation cost, enter the unit cost you charge for the new configuration in the appropriate column and line
  • Functionalities on the first page of the spreadsheet enable you to add up each column, providing information about total savings, cost and incentive numbers. There is also space provided for you to include comments.
  • You can edit the annual operating hours to get a more accurate energy savings for your customer
  • Remember that these energy-saving calculations are best estimates, based on the numbers used in the PIP application system

In other PIP news, the program continues to be a great success. We are doing our best to process your applications as quickly as possible and to eliminate any backlog. To ensure the most efficient and successful processing of PIP applications, please remember the following:

  • 120 days from invoice date to application submission
Please ensure that projects are completed within this timeframe. Invoices do not have to be submitted at the same time as the application and can be submitted at a later date.
  • Projects must be completed before submitting applications
Please remind your customers that all products must be installed before a PIP application can be submitted. Recently, we have conducted several inspections at locations where products where not fully installed, resulting in additional work for all parties, including repeat inspections in subsequent weeks.

Also, please see our Resources page for an updated incentive sheet. If you have questions or require assistance with PIP, please contact the Power Smart Business Helpdesk or call 604 522 4713 or 1 866 522 4713 (outside the Lower Mainland).
