Power Smart Trade Show Lights the Way to Sustainable Business
“The people who attended were there for one reason: to save energy.” Feedback from an Alliance member aptly sums up the enthusiastic response to the Power Smart Forum “Energy & Sustainability Solutions for Business” trade show, which combined with the Forum drew more than 400 potential customers looking for ways to conserve energy in the workplace.
The third annual trade show organized in conjunction with the Power Smart Forum, featured 26 industrial and commercial Alliance members, who showcased the latest in energy efficient products best suited for business applications. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about potential energy solutions while milling about with other colleagues and enjoying refreshments. Those who chose to engage in lengthier conversations with Alliance members were rewarded for their efforts: entry to a contest draw for a new LCD television, courtesy of Philips/Advance, and a two-night stay at the Westin Bayshore.
Judging by the results of our exhibitor evaluation questionnaire, Forum participants weren’t the only ones who found the trade show informative and worthwhile. Exhibitors’ feedback was extremely positive, including such comments as “The lay-out was very well-planned“; “People who attended were the right kind of people we needed [to talk to]”; and “I never had this much activity at our booth in the …time we were there.” More than 75 percent of respondents were pleased with the quality of their customer interactions, which overall resulted in good leads. Almost all respondents indicated they would participate in next year’s trade show.
We are always looking for ways to improve and received several suggestions that will be considered for next year. Among them was the possibility of extending trade show hours from the current 2.5 hours to allow more time with customers. It is always a challenge to find sufficient time for both the Forum speaker roster and the trade show, but we are looking into the feasibility of longer exhibit hours for future events.
