Phone Pals: The Power Behind the Power Smart Business Helpdesk
Most of you know them as the voices at the other end of the Helpdesk line. The three people who staff the Power Smart Business Helpdesk chat with Alliance members and their customers on a daily basis, answering questions about Power Smart programs, helping them with the PIP website or providing general assistance.
We thought you might enjoy learning a bit more about the people behind the voices, and so we asked them a few questions. Here are the results of our conversation.
Kim Grahame Favourite Hobbies/Interests “I like to bike, hike, camp and play Wii games. I’m also an active volunteer – I have been the Volunteer Coordinator for the Shooting Stars Foundation for 8 years and love doing it. I’m thrilled to have been selected as 1 of 50 BC Hydro employees who will be volunteering at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.” Commitment to Energy Conservation “I changed all the incandescent light bulbs in my new apartment the day after I moved in. I went and purchased all the lights and changed them right away. I keep the lights off in rooms we’re not occupying, and turn off the power bars for items not in use. I also have an energy star TV.” Best Thing About Working the Helpdesk “I enjoy being on the phone with our Alliance members, particularly when I can provide a solution or take care of an issue for someone right away. I’ve also enjoyed getting to know them.” | |
| Kelvin Chow Favourite Hobbies/Interests “I’m pretty hooked on working out and exercise, and am a huge fan of mixed martial arts. I also enjoy volunteering for various organizations, such as SUCCESS and SFU.” Commitment to Energy Conservation “I take transit to and from work everyday. I hope that reduces my carbon footprint.” Best Thing About Working the Helpdesk “I enjoy building relationships with our Alliance members – there is a real satisfaction that comes with helping people. I also like that I am doing my part to help Power Smart.” |
Lauren Middleton Favourite Hobbies/interests “I am a real outdoors person and enjoy hiking, biking and rollerblading. I also like to travel.” Commitment to Energy Conservation “I joined Team Power Smart in September 2008 when I first started working at BC Hydro and have been actively trying to reduce my energy usage ever since. I changed all the light bulbs in my apartment for more energy efficient models and turn off and/or unplug all my equipment when I’m not using it.” Best Thing about Working the Helpdesk “I learn something new everyday. When chatting with Alliance members, I am often challenged by their questions, and I really enjoy learning more about our industry and energy conservation. I have learned so much in the short period of time that I have worked at the Helpdesk.” | |
