New Pilot Program for Commercial Buildings is a Hit

The newly launched Continuous Optimization Pilot Program (COPP) for Commercial Buildings is off to a great start. In fact, it’s been so popular that it’s over-subscribed.

It is widely accepted that, over time, building systems do not operate optimally and will eventually use more energy than ideal to satisfy occupant comfort and lighting requirements. The term “retro-commissioning” is used to identify those activities that attempt to optimize the operation of whole building systems by reducing energy use. This is accomplished through identifying and implementing low-cost operational and maintenance changes.

COPP is unique in that it not only helps commercial building owners retro-commission their facilities, but also ensures these benefits will continue. The goal is to provide owners with solutions that will maintain and continually improve the efficiency level of building operations.

Having recently completed their training, consulting engineers registered with the Alliance for  COPP have now started to work with customers. In order to manage customer expectations for fast follow-up, Power Smart is not accepting any more customer applications at this time.

However, if you have experience with retro-commissioning and have a ‘big picture’ building perspective, we’d like to hear from you. We’re looking for allies who might be interested in assisting us with the implementation of the program. Please contact Graham Henderson directly at 604 453 6471 email graham.henderson@bchydro.com.
