Power Smart’s new High-Bay Lighting (HBL) Initiative may be just what you need to convince your commercial customers to switch to high output fluorescent lighting in their high-bay facilities.
The HBL Initiative provides increased financial incentives for the implementation of energy efficient high-bay lighting in facilities such as warehouses, athletic spaces and large retail stores. Funding for Lighting Redesign Studies is also available until January 1, 2008 to help customers evaluate and choose the most energy efficient lighting and control upgrade measures for their existing facility.
The energy-saving results of high-bay lighting are impressive. A case study outlining EV Logistics’ success after installing high-bay lighting found that the company saved $128,000 in annual energy costs. Company leaders were so pleased with the dramatic improvements, improved working conditions and greater employee productivity that they are already considering another project.
The HBL Initiative is open to all BC Hydro commercial customers who spend $50,000 or more annually on electricity. Projects must meet minimum requirements of 100,000 kWh per year in energy savings and have a minimum two-year payback period.
Additional details, including tools to help you calculate energy savings and project incentives, are available via the High-Bay Lighting Initiative link on the BC Hydro Corporate website. You can also find more information by reading the Power Smart Partners High-Bay Lighting Initiative Information sheet [PDF, 138Kb].
Participation in the HBL Initiative might be your customer’s first steps towards a fruitful Power Smart partnership with BC Hydro. Call the Alliance department if you are not sure whether your customer meets the program’s eligibility requirements.
