All Aboard the Power Smart Partner Express!

BC Hydro customers with Key Account Managers (KAMs) are getting onboard the Power Smart Partners Express, where they can save time and have access to great incentives.

Available only to customers with KAMs – primarily large commercial, government and institutional customers -- the Power Smart Partners Express program was launched in April 2010 as a complement to Power Smart Partners. (If you are uncertain whether or not your customer has a KAM, please call or email the Power Smart Business Helpdesk.

KAM customers can continue to work with Power Smart Partners for larger projects, but may prefer to take advantage of the simpler – and quicker – Power Smart Partners Express process for simple changes, such as lighting upgrades or retrofits.

The program is similar to PIP, in that it offers significant incentives for customers to install energy efficient products; applications can also be submitted online. There are, however, several significant differences: 

  • Projects must be pre-approved before products are purchased. To acquire pre-approval, customers must provide a total project cost estimate.
  • Once pre-approval has been granted, customers have up to one year to complete the project and submit the declaration.
  • More accurate incentives that are based on the energy savings of individual projects which means there are larger incentives for projects with a longer payback period.

To participate in Power Smart Partners Express, customers must first log on at the Power Smart Partners page, where they can create a username and password. Once this is done, they can request a pin so that a registered Alliance member can complete the application on his/her customer’s behalf.
