As noted in earlier correspondence to Alliance members, in mid January 2012 Power Smart introduced several changes to the Product Incentive Program (PIP) and Power Smart Partners Express (PSPX).
PIP and PSPX
Some configurations have been removed, while others have been changed. PIP incentive levels have also been adjusted to reflect updated product costs and demands for technologies. The goal is to streamline product offerings and ensure the most energy efficient tools are being used.
LED Products
In addition, there are new eligibility requirements for LED products:
• As of January 1, 2012, all new LED* submissions must have Energy Star or DLC designation in order to be considered for inclusion in e.Catalog.
• As of April 1, 2012, all LED* products currently listed on e.Catalog must have Energy Star or DLC designation in order to qualify for incentives from BC Hydro. Any currently listed products that do not have these designations will no longer be eligible.
LED products that meet these criteria will continue to eligible for incentives through PIP and PSPX.
*Does not include LED Exit Signs & LED Strips
How This Impacts You and Your Customers
In addition to the above changes, the Alliance has also adjusted some criteria in the PIP and PSPX application process. As of January 12, 2012, any distributor involved in a prescriptive retrofit project must be a registered Alliance member and must be identified in all PIP and PSPX applications.
This means that customers now must purchase products from an Alliance member distributor firm in order to be eligible for incentives. Customers can identify the Alliance member distributor by providing the distributor’s Alliance ID number in the application.
