New Incentive Program for Industrial Customers

BC Hydro has introduced a new initiative that makes it easier than ever for your industrial customers to receive incentives for energy efficiency projects, incentives that could potentially cover up to 75 percent of project costs!

The Self Serve Incentive Program (SIP) is an online application process and a convenient way for industrial customers to apply for incentives for compressed air upgrades (between 40 and 200 horsepower) and industrial lighting retrofits. Incentives are tiered and based on a customer’s true energy savings and payback.

The SIP is designed for BC Hydro industrial customers who spend more than $20,000 annually in electricity or who are billed on the 1500 or 1600 rate . Eligible costs include equipment, installation, in-house labour, project management, disposal and taxes.

Here’s how it works:

• Customers, with help from their vendor, identify a savings opportunity in the lighting or compressed air system. The vendor (in this case, an Alliance member) performs a system assessment to identify the energy savings and project costs.

• Once a system assessment is complete, the vendor helps the customer complete and submit the online SIP application.

• BC Hydro staff review and pre-approve the project application. In order to be eligible for any incentives, it is important that customers receive pre-approval before purchasing any equipment.

• Customers will receive their incentive once their paid invoices are received and reviewed by BC Hydro. Customers typically receive payment within three months.

SIP is a great way for your customers to save energy, save time, and save money. For more information about the program, download the SIP FAQ sheet [360 Kb] or visit the program webpage.
