A new online system to help small industrial customers apply for Power Smart lighting incentives is now available. Entitled the Small Industrial Program (SIP), the program can provide incentives to fund up to 75 per cent of a project’s cost or buy down the payback to as low as one year.
The SIP not only simplifies things for customers, but also makes it easy for Alliance member firms to assist them in every step of the application process. Customers can apply for incentives online and receive a quick response on the incentive amount.
Here’s how it works:
• Customer initiates application: A customer goes online, registers the company’s business site and starts the application. An Alliance member firm can walk the customer through this simple process while on the phone or at the customer site. The process takes only 10 minutes.
• Alliance member completes application: The member firm goes online and enters technical details about the lighting system, the estimated energy savings and the project cost. Once completed, the Alliance member submits the application to Power Smart on behalf of the customer.
• Submit documentation: The Alliance member submits the lighting assessment (Power Smart’s “ES Calculator” spreadsheet) as well as any other related documentation. Forms are submitted to ProjectSupport@bchydro.com.
• Power Smart Technical Review: Power Smart’s engineering department reviews the application. Once approved, both the customer and the vendor are notified by email. The SIP program requires pre-approval, so the customer cannot issue any purchase orders prior to receiving the incentive offer from Power Smart.
• Project completion: Once the new lighting system is installed and commissioned, the customer will go online to submit paid invoices to initiate the incentive payment.
A user manual [PDF, 510 Kb] is also available to help customers and Alliance members navigate the SIP system.
