Welcome to the New Alliance

As the Alliance approaches the end of its first decade, we’re revising its structure to make things better for members and, in turn, for customers. Members can count on enhanced benefits and more tools to support their roles as leaders in energy conservation and to help grow their business.

Alliance members are now recognized as powerful influencers in the adoption of energy efficient solutions, and BC Hydro relies on them to help promote energy conservation to customers. Looking ahead, we hope that industry will be even more engaged with conservation and we want to ensure that our members are equipped to do so.

The Alliance was originally formed in 2002 as a resource for BC Hydro customers looking for firms that provided energy efficient solutions. As the conservation movement gained momentum throughout the province, so did interest in the Alliance. Over the last decade, the scope of the organization has expanded to support both the commercial and industrial sectors, and to align with BC Hydro’s incentives for energy studies, system retrofits and new green building construction. Membership has also grown significantly since the Alliance’s inception.

As a result, systems that supported us in the past are now in need of some fine-tuning to better meet the needs of a dynamic membership and a rapidly changing marketplace. With this top of mind, Alliance staff began last winter to review the organization’s overall structure. As part of the process, we held a series of meetings this past fall with industry stakeholders and current Alliance members to re-assess the needs of industry. After much valuable input, we are now developing initiatives and practices that we hope will support members to maximum benefit.

The new Alliance will offer members a broader range of learning and business opportunities, enabling them to further build their expertise and expand their professional network. At the same time, they will continue to enjoy other benefits, such as ongoing customer referrals, access to the latest industry developments and more active promotion of the Alliance as a group of energy conservation experts.

It’s an exciting time. In the upcoming months, current Alliance member firms will be asked to renew their membership. We look forward to sharing with you more details about the wealth of opportunities that are just around the corner.
