New Online Application Available for Small Industrial Customers
It’s simple, and it’s fast. A new streamlined way to help small industrial customers apply for BC Hydro incentives is now available, eliminating the need for a study proposal or a paper application. This not only simplifies things for customers, but also makes it easier for vendors to engage and assist them in the application process.
Entitled Small Industrial Program (SIP), the new incentive application process is available for industrial customers with compressed air systems between 40hp and 200hp, or lighting systems for customers that spend less than $200,000 per year in electricity. From start to finish, Alliance member firms can help customers apply for incentives online and receive a quick response about the approval and incentive amount.
Here’s how it works:
- Customer initiates application: A customer goes online, registers their site and starts the application (Alliance members can walk the customer through this simple process while on the phone or at the work site). The customer enters his/her firm’s contact info, accepts the standard Terms and Conditions, and assigns an Alliance member (your firm) as the vendor. This process should take no longer than 10-15 minutes.
- Alliance member completes application: The Alliance member will get an email with a link to the online application. At this time, the member goes online and enters specific information about the compressed air or lighting system, the expected energy savings estimated from the member’s assessment report, and the project cost. Once completed, the application is submitted to Power Smart on behalf of the customer. Again, this should take no longer than 10 to 15 minutes.
- Submit documentation: The member firm is required to email the assessment report as well as any other pertinent documentation.
- Power Smart Technical Review: Power Smart’s Engineering department will review the application. Once approved, both the customer and the vendor are notified by email. The customer will receive the incentive offer amount, which can fund up to 75 per cent of the project cost or buy down the payback to as low as one year. The customer must not issue any PO prior to receiving the incentive offer from Power Smart or the incentive will be void.
- Project completion: Once the new system is installed and commissioned, the customer can go online to submit paid invoices to Power Smart. Power Smart may initiate site inspections and monitoring & verification before the incentive payment is issued.
