New Industrial Marketing Initiative

Selling conservation to industrial customers has just gotten easier, thanks to a new Power Smart marketing initiative. Launched during Power Smart Month in October 2010, the new platform simplifies the navigation of BC Hydro’s various industrial energy initiatives by integrating them under one umbrella, the Power Smart Partners Industrial Program (PSP Industrial Programs). As a result, information about initiatives such as Power Smart Partners-Transmission (PSP-T), Power Smart Partners-Distribution (PSP-D) and New Plant Design can now be found online in one place: www.bchydro.com/industrial

Taking a cue from one of the program’s key messages, “Managing energy is smart business practice,” the goal is to reduce customers’ confusion and make it easier for them to choose which energy efficient options are best suited for their facilities.

A flexible four-part continuous improvement cycle has also been introduced to support the new marketing architecture and help customers realize increased energy savings year after year.
All PSP Industrial Programs have been re-organized under the four streams represented in the continuous improvement cycle. The four streams are:

  • Plan: Integrate energy management into long-term business vision
  • Discover: Find and study opportunities to save
  • Upgrade: Build efficiency into existing facilities
  • Support: Grow savings with smart monitoring and awareness

Within each stream, there are several building blocks or initiatives that industrial customers can undertake to increase their energy savings. Customers can begin at any point of the four-part cycle, with whichever initiative that best suits their facility.
