CITY STREETS WORK

MAY 2012

The contractor continues to install transmission cables in the duct banks to connect the new Mount Pleasant substation with the Sperling substation and underground Cathedral Square Substation.

Starting Tuesday, May 15, 2012, the contractor will begin setting up the work sites to pull transmission cables into the underground cable vaults located on:

  • Cypress Street between West 17th Avenue and West 18th Avenue and;
  • Maple Street south of King Edward Boulevard

Parking restrictions will not be in effect this week.

This work is planned to be done from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Monday through Friday).

Starting Tuesday, May 22, 2012 cable installation, which is anticipated to take 5 to 7 working days, will begin at the above cable vault locations.

At the cable vault located on Cypress Street between W.17th and W. 18th Avenues, a heavy duty oversized flat bed truck will be delivering cables to this cable vault over several days before 6 a.m. due to by-law restrictions for oversize vehicles.

This work is planned to be done from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Mondays through Saturdays).

Please be advised that on-street parking will be unavailable during cable installation. Vehicles left within the work zone risk being ticketed and towed. Should the contractor complete the work sooner, the contractor will request an earlier removal of the no-parking signs.

We thank you for your patience while we undertake this important work.
