BC Hydro has submitted its Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed Site C Clean Energy Project to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency and the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office.
The EIS includes the project rationale, identifies potential effects and proposes measures to avoid or mitigate these effects. The EIS also describes the benefits Site C would provide for customers, Aboriginal and northern communities and the province as a whole.
On November 7, 2013, the Joint Review Panel reviewing Site C announced that the EIS, along with the additional information submitted by BC Hydro, contains sufficient information to proceed to public hearings. The hearings will begin with an opening session in Fort St. John on December 9, 2013 and will be completed in January 2014.
