Where: Merritt Country Christmas Parade, Merritt
Under the dark, frosty night, as the people of Merritt ate their dinners, our Power Smart Team rolled into Canada's Country Capital. A five person strike team, packed into a bight green mini-van, slid into cowboy town.
As we rode along we stayed focused on the challenging assignment that awaited us. In our arsenal of conservation, we carried bam-bams, mini mitts and stickers by the hundreds, iron wills, and LED light strings.
The trusty van heater kept us warm until the time came to face the cold dark night and thousands of people eager for Power Smart tips. There was an uneasy feeling as we all wondered the same thing, "Just how many people will be on the streets? Will it be organized mayhem?" We were ready for the cold. Our winter boots, snow pants, long johns and senses of humour were all in place and keeping us in good spirits for the delivery of our Power Smart messages.
As country music blared, big lit up trucks and trailers formed the parade line. We proudly joined with our bright Power Smart Van, our lights and generator worked beautifully. People by the thousands lined the main street of Merritt, laughing at the lamp and looking perplexed by the giant TV as she ambled down the road. The parade went down without a hitch, and Cowboy Town was another big win for Team Power Smart.
